Last year December 2016 I was fortunate enough tobe invited by Château CLINET for tasting and having lunch with the owner as I had expressed my deep interest and indeed very keen to meet the owner personally, Ronan LABORED, CEO. Since 2003, the estate has been managed by Ronan. I also met the Sales & Marketing Manager Monique Bailly.
In recent times: In 1998, the château was acquired by Jean-Louis Laborde who devoted all of his energy to continuing the revolution inspired by his predecessor. From an early age, Laborde’s son, Ronan, took a keen interest in wine. Ronan Laborde has improved the wine of Chateau Clinet and he has increased the size of Clinet, which is often a difficult task in Pomerol. The first traces of viticulture, on the land that today belongs toChâteau CLINET, date back to 1614.
Château Clinet is situated on great terroir. Their vineyards are located at one ofthe highest points on the Pomerol Plateau. Chateau Clinet has good company on the plateau. Their closest neighbors are only a stones throw away, Chateau LEglise Clinet ,Chateau Clos LEglise , Chateau Feytit-Clinet and Chateau Trotanoy. They also have vines with more gravel close toLafleur and Petrus. The terroir of Chateau Clinet is a complex blend of gravel, clay and iron rich sandy soils.
Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%) grape varieties.
Chateau ClNET, Pomerol Apellation, Fleur de Clinet, purchased fruit from other growers in the Pomerol appellation, known as their second wine. Ronan by Clinet 100% Merlot – Valued Wine, Bordeaux appellation.
CLINET is perfect example of seduction ! Ronan by Clinet is very impressive, a wine I would love to share with friends.
Ronan Laborde purchased more property in Pomerol increasing the size ofChateau Clinet. About 50% of the new vines will be used in the wine of Chateau Clinet. The remaining vines will be used in their second wine , Fleur de Clinet.
Average Production: The average production here today is close to 4000 cases of Chateau Clinet per year.
